keep an eye out

for this one my dears...

Gaia Repossi is the artistic director for Repossi Joailliers, based in Paris.  she started off the job doing collaboration collections with Eugenie Niarchos, a childhood friend.  the collections are GORGE  - the two rings pictured here are currently the object of MUCH lust by one e-stylist... the earrings, pendants, and rings are all impeccable, beautiful filagree designs, in four types of gold, with the option of rose-cut diamonds. they are the kind of pieces that instantly transform you... and i'm not just saying that because i am currently enjoying a mental-vacation day as an Elizabethan princess who would most certainly be dripping in jewels.  even as just little old me - put one of these rings on - and it just does something to you.  LOVE when that happens.

she worked on fall collections collaborating with Alexander Wang (oh my sweet Alexander!) and Joseph Altuzarra, and (HOPE HOPE) there is talk of her line being sold on net-a-porter come fall.  which gives me a bit of time to both plan and to dream!

friday faboo

if asked the question "should we go NOW?!", the place that tops the list where the answer is "oui!!" would be the south of France.

in Cannes, at the benefit for AmFar, the-e-stylist Friday fab award goes to miss Rachel Bilson. always adorable - and extremely so here in Chanel. benefit for a good charity, south of France, Chanel and Rachel Bilson... what's not to love?

shop and feed

doing good things is a good thing.  i'm a strong believer in karma, and i also just think that it's nice to help out someone who is not as fortunate as you are.  combine this with my, shall we say, "affinity" for shopping, and we get to the "shop for charity" happy place.  in this happy place today, we find this gorge handbag designed by Joy Bryant with Botkier.  sold exclusively at ShopBop -FIFTY percent of the proceeds go to Oxfam, a charity fighting hunger.  i know the bag is not cheap - but that also means a nice chunky donation to a good cause, n'est-ce pas?

fringe benefits

tis a previously posted fact that i am in love with my JJ Winters fringe bag.  i put it away for the freezing winter and have recently put it back into rotation full swing for the nice weather months. these little boho babies seem to be popping up EVERYWHERE now - and i'm feeling the pull of temptation to add a little more fringe into the mix!  wearing fringe just feels good, it swishes as you walk and it just makes you feel a little bit more sass in every step.  LOVE it..  you can run the gamut on what you spend.  in the interest of fiscal responsibility, i will skip the lovely fringed bags by Jimmy Choo and Givenchy.  there's a fantastic mid-range with from JJ Winters, Charlie My Love and Susan Farber.  AND you can also go the route of the super cute bag my niece got at H&M, or this cute Forever21 bag... get swingin' dolls!

yum and yummer

by now we are all aware of my love of all things t-shirt yes?  beginning with the basic item, and expanding outwards to almost anything offered up.  including (high on the list) the t-shirt dress.  lo and behold, the gods must be listening as i yammer.  there will be in stores,  as of June, a collaboration collection of Velvet by Graham & Spencerat Uniqlo.  it's quite the win-win sitcho dolls.  i have long loved the Velvet  tees.  they are soft as soft can be and just rest perfectly upon the body.  and Uniqlo is always spot on with all of their basics at amazing prices.  the collection will consist of 14 pieces including tees, camisoles and dresses.  this dress in particular will very likely be adorning the bod of the-e-stylist on any given day this summer...  bring on the sunshine!

non fiction

several facts for this sunny morning.

one - i am extremely excited to see the new Robin Hood movie.  as you may have gathered, i'm wildly obsessed with British history and all the myths and stories that go along with it.
two - Cate Blanchett is in the movie, and as you also may have gathered, i am obsessed with her.  the most perfect Maid Marion humanly possible.
three - my head is spinning at how AMAZING these custom made Roger Vivier boots are.  they were created for her, with her input, to wear in the film to go mucking through the forest and be a bad-ass superwoman and look fantastic at the same time. (precisely the reason i love her so)  the boots are beyond perfect - i would gladly sling some arrows to get my hands on them.

(a little ps - Cate at Cannes for Robin Hood, wearing a gorge McQueen dress.  LOVE)

long love

i'm feeling quite a bit of love for this Sir Alistair Rai maxi dress. (or kurta, to be precise)  i'm obsessed with the maxi in general. beyond any other singular piece of clothing, it is pure comfort.  and it can go dressed way up or down, depending on the accessorizing.  there are a few more than necessary of said item in their little section of my closet, but they are a genius summer staple and i love them all.    this little bad boy makes me want to put on some bejeweled strappy flat sandals, a big stack of gold bangles and go have a drink at a beach side cafe.  (i'm on mental holiday in the south of france for this particular scene).  and being part of a sale going on at Haute Look - it saves me some money to get to my beach destination!  oh how i do love it when the style stars align!!

financial aide

i know that the heterosexual males of our species do not exactly understand the pure, adrenaline driven joy that we ladies experience upon finding a MAJOR discount on a fantastic designer item.  there is not much that can compare to the feeling, quite frankly.

in the effort to bring you such joy, and in an effort to ease the financial burdens upon us all at this crazy moment in time - i must remind you that Nordstrom Rack is FINALLY opening tomorrow in Union Square!!!  (Broadway and 14th St to be exact.) NY has always been a shoppers' delight - but this is like welcoming a long, lost friend to the party!

will i be there tomorrow?  let's crunch some numbers, shall we?  merchandise at up to 60% off, plus 25,000 pairs of shoes equals shopping delight.

gap-tastic

they sell like hotcakes, the Pierre Hardy for Gap shoe collections.  every time.  and i am sure this one will be no exception - they are a bit adorable....  i always love a good wedge, much less ankle-risk for daily running around.  (especially for a klutz like myself) and this little denim flat is just screaming out to be worn with everything you own....  yep - shoes speak to me.  it would be rude to ignore them.

the collection hits Gap stores and the old interwebs on May 10th, on your marks....get set....SHOP!

Met Gala lovelies

there's always some faboosh styling going on at the Met Gala. in my opinion it's even better than the whole award season parade - i guess the nerves are taken out of the equation - everyone looks relaxed and gorge. this year was no exception.  in addition - there is a tres cool exhibit at the Met this year, "American Women, Fashioning a National Identity", (opening May 5 and running through August 15) which lent even more zing to the whole thing.

in no particular order, my faves of the evening were Zoe Saldana, Dianne Kruger & Joshua Jackson all looking slick and sleek in Calvin Klein; Emma Watson (even if she weren't Hermione, i would still love her) in Burberry, JLo looking FAB in Zuhair Murad; Anne Hathaway in Valentino; Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren (completely perfect); and last but not least the ever cool Sienna Miller in Pucci - bold but i LOVE it (and the arm candy's not bad either...)

there were a few crazers that you can look up - but the-e-stylist is not about slagging people off - so we will just leave it at singing the praises of the Best Dressed.  well done ladies, well done.

no need for needles

face... the final frontier.  they can put a man on the moon.  they can take photos of mars.  but oh the elusiveness of a good face creme to turn back time.  LORD knows i have put in the effort. i'm pretty sure i have tried each and every single lotion and potion out there.  i have tried to be "good" and use inexpensive ones.  i just end up buying more, either because it's a bit useless, or because i need to use a huge amount to feel like it's working.  i was at the point of being fed up - and seriously considering when the time would be right to turn to a bit of "cosmetic medicine".

2 lucky things intervened.  one - i hate needles and it's costly, so i kept putting it off.  and two - i went with a good friend of mine on our regular tea date to Bergdorf's.  we had our tea and caught up - then took our post-tea trek down to the beauty floor.  she had decided to treat herself to some Creme de la Mer body lotion, as she had just run out. having reached the end of my wits with my quest, i decided to take the plunge and bought the face creme.  they were having a beauty special, so i got a discount and some samples, which always helps. INSTANTLY it makes your skin feel good - i don't know why or how - but it does. i followed the instructions of the woman working there - and only use a small amount - so it will last a good length of time.    this was exactly 2 weeks ago.

yesterday, sitting on my couch - after a crazed night of insomnia - 2 hours of sleep,  my bf looked at me and said "you look really beautiful"  i looked at him a little confused, because i felt so decrepit, and he said "you do - your skin looks amazing".  i'm pretty sure i've never in my life heard a straight man say that - so i am now, for better or worse financially, 100% committed to a life with Creme de la Mer.  i love a happy ending.
