one good thing about cooler weather to come...but no rush!
during his resort presentation yesterday, Alexander Wang had a couple of exciting cards to play... one is that he will be doing a line of "essentials" (for yours truly, the T line is my "essential" - but that's just me) which will include some more tailored pieces, namely 2 jackets, 3 styles of pants and one shirt. streamlined, of course, in the way he does. the other - and for myself, infinitely most exciting (and dangerous) is that he will be opening up a shop in NYC later on this year. no exact date or location was revealed, but my brain has begun it's little spinning routine... perhaps it will open right about the time of year that i may need to add one of these jackets to my collection???

keep an eye out
for this one my dears...
Gaia Repossi is the artistic director for Repossi Joailliers, based in Paris. she started off the job doing collaboration collections with Eugenie Niarchos, a childhood friend. the collections are GORGE - the two rings pictured here are currently the object of MUCH lust by one e-stylist... the earrings, pendants, and rings are all impeccable, beautiful filagree designs, in four types of gold, with the option of rose-cut diamonds. they are the kind of pieces that instantly transform you... and i'm not just saying that because i am currently enjoying a mental-vacation day as an Elizabethan princess who would most certainly be dripping in jewels. even as just little old me - put one of these rings on - and it just does something to you. LOVE when that happens.
she worked on fall collections collaborating with Alexander Wang (oh my sweet Alexander!) and Joseph Altuzarra, and (HOPE HOPE) there is talk of her line being sold on net-a-porter come fall. which gives me a bit of time to both plan and to dream!

cloudy day cheer up
morning cruises of the interwebs generally offer the "yada yada yada" chatter. 99.5% of the stuff is white noise that i am not interested in. but let's have a little moment for that other .5%. it's the high octane fuel that mama needs!
today's high octane - like a jolt of delicious hot coffee - is offered up by none other than Alexander Wang. not much of a shocker there, i know. but the man really shows no sign of slowing down or dropping the ball. his Fall 2010 accessories are, as is the norm - GORGE. there are the lovely thick buttery leather totes and the ubiquitous Rocco that we all know and love by now. do i want one more and more every time i see them? sir, yes sir. and this zippered tote is like my siren song. BUT there are also some new shapes (hello adorable little wristie. would you like to come live with me?) and, some pretty hardcore structure. kind of loving it, i must say. these clutches are beyond hot. LOVE. once again A.W., i tip my hat to thee. is it too early to make a Christmas list?

t love
well, well, well... what have we here? someone in the ether is paying attention it seems. we all know i am a wee bit obsessed with Alexander Wang. and i'm relatively certain i've mentioned the fact that i adore his T line... now it comes to pass that he is expanding the line beyond just basic t's and t-shirt dresses. genius. for the fall, there will be leggings, (with leather piping - yum), ponchos, (yes please), denim jackets, sweatshirts, wool blazers and skinny pants... quite the expansion i have to say. i love the leather detailing and i am sure that the pieces are all going to have that "i want to live in this" feeling to them that the t's do. bravo mr. Wang. bravo!

she wore blue velvet

tis clear that velvet is a major thing going on in the fall collections. and i, for one, am loving it. velvet is absurd. in a good way. it makes anything ordinary suddenly feel luxurious. i remember one of the first things i bought with my own money as a "grown up" was a pair of black velvet jeans. i loved them to death. literally. i wore them until they became too natty to wear any longer. and i miss them to this day. lucky for me then, that it seems like i will easily be able to find a replacement come fall.
both Catherine Malandrino (top pics) and Alexander Wang (bottom) used a heavy hand with the velvet - but instead of going rather queenly with it, which is easy to do, they went goth. LOVE. maybe it's the part of me that still loves the Nirvana cheerleader girls. maybe it's the lingering love of my college roommate in philly... but i have a major weakness for the goth chick thing, and if you dress it up with a little luxury - baby you are dialing my number. i'm particularly obsessed with the blue velvet dress at Malandrino - the cobalt and black combo is friggin GORGE. (as a total aside - the leopard coat made me drool a little... and made me a little dizzy with lust...i confess) and the leather/velvet combo is something that little old me is certainly going to be working come fall... (it's somehow easy to think of fall clothes, with a snow storm going on outside.)
and Alexander, oh Alexander. my love for you grows. there isn't really a word to describe my reaction to the grey velvet - it falls somewhere between hysteria, lust and euphoria... hysterluphoria. there - now there is a word for it. it looks like a fall sky in paris. one that you can touch. toss in some black leather and lace, and we're good to go. HYSTERLUPHORIA. he hit it once again.
i'm looking out my window at the snow, and i'm desperate for warm weather to come - but now at least i feel a bit better about the chilly times...

HOW is it SATURDAY?@?@?@?@!!!!!!!!
sometimes time goes so fast that when it's gone i have whiplash. having that moment at this moment. this past week flew by - and i have not been writing and i have so many thoughts in my brain it's spinning!
i'm going today to the Chictopia conference. a pow-wow for style bloggers, designers, and emerging designers... i think it will be really fun and interesting - and i'll probs be yammering on about it next week. and of course, it is NY Fashion Week. so there are about 4.3 million shows going on. yeah - a lot. much to be blabbed about, images to peruse, thoughts of how to put it all together with what you already have in your closet... off the top of my brain Rag & Bone and Doo Ri are leading the pack - but i'm still mentally sorting and lord knows there is much more to come. including my current obsession Alexander Wang, who is showing today... you KNOW you'll be seeing that up here!
so dolls - collecting my thoughts, caffeinating to max capacity and then i'm back here blazing in glory. xoxo

question?

how much do i obsessively desire this little sweater vest top by Alexander Wang at Shopbop?
answer: supercalifragilisticexpealidoscious - ly much. like a lot.
vests are like a scarf for the body - they instantly make a t-shirt and jeans into something a bit more... and if you're feeling a bit saucy you can go with nothing underneath. (provided of course there is some sort of closure - i'm not promoting debauchery here people!) i seem to be creating a bit of a collection... not in a Chandler Bing sort of way - i'm feeling much more "i just stepped out of the 60's time machine door" with it... and i dig it man.

WANG it!

first let me tell you how i've missed you my stylies. i am UNDER it with a flu that i hope is not swine. it's a doozer - of the "i can barely mentally function" variety. but i'm actually able to sit upright today so i am BACK bitches.
while on my back, i was able to read. and one of the things i read is that Alexander Wang's spring collection is now avails. of course this excited me, because as you know, i love me some Wang. pardon any entendre there, dirty birds!! clickity clack - i cruise the interwebs... and i came to the realization that my reaction to Alexander's things tends to fall into two categories. one: WOW that is amazing and gorge. two: i never knew i needed that until i saw it, and now i cannot live without it. i'm assuming that reaction number two is what makes him a super genius. the perfect example - i was blisteringly unaware that i MUST have an army green bag. now that i know - it's all i can think about.
there are apporoximately 8 bags that fell into category 2, and pretty much every single piece from the T line. and 3 dresses from the main line... and a couple of skirts... oy vey. it is probably a very good thing that i am under the weather and not able to go to Barneys and abuse my credit card at the moment.

high street heaven
indeed, it's that time of year... the decorations are popping up in shops, the giftie catalogs are being sent in droves, and Kate Moss Christmas collection is in at Topshop. the lingerie is a bit adorable, and there are a couple of dresses and tops that make you go hmmm... cruise it - see what you're feeling.girl rocks the daylights out of the clothing in the photos too - and her hair is hot 60's bed head fab. regardless of what i may buy (ummm... perhaps this lovely blouse?) i fully plan on sportin the hair...
i'm a sucker for the high/low. i'm picturing this top, my Alexander Wang black skinny pants, and this that or the other out of the shoe collection... top it off with a great bag and a pile of bracelets, and BAZINGA we are off to the races.

things are on a loop here....
let's review the commonalities in todays posts: e-commerce; h&m; topshop; alexander wang. weird. just kind of weird...ok - so i talked about e-commerce and alexander wang. and then i just found out that alexander wang just launched his e-commerce site! since he's kind of the uber cool beau of the ball - it's not always easy to find a particular thing you may want... but now! tada! the magic of the interwebs comes at us once more in the final chapter of cyclical blog kismet of september 24.
check it out - the T collection - LOVE - and the bags are making my heart palpitate a little... i think i am verging on obsession here... oh who am i kidding. i am over that line.
how do I love thee?

past due recap.... alexander wang
i've done my weeding. and i've decided i'm really only going to give a couple of "blog outs" - yo - and i'm sorry for my tardiness.most of NY Fashion week was a bit of the same ol' same ol'. not that things were not GORGE. for example, Calvin Klein was, as usual, minimally stunning and perfection. were there beautiful things? left right and center. but we knew that, did we not? and Donna Karan - same -- beautiful things abound, but nothing that was earth shatteringly shattering. do i want some of it? you bet your cheerios i do. but i don't need to discuss here and now... (if you're so inclined - check out the videos to see said pretty things...Calvin... Donna)
shout out numero uno goes to Alexander Wang. (watch his video here) whom, by my nature, i discovered via the t-shirt. his line of t-shirts makes me melt. i think i've gone on about them before. if i had a school uniform - this would be part of it. love, love, love. so i investigated further, and dang it if i do not adore this man now. COOL would be the first word springing to mind. accessories to die for - and we know how i feel about accessories. and the clothes themselves are cool and absolutely wearable. which is not always something that goes hand in hand with fashion. it's my niche i suppose. the new collection is again all very wearable - and god bless this man, he incorporates sweatshirt material into gorgeous shapes that you can proudly wear out and about. seriously? can it get any better?
now - e-stylist note here - one must know that runway is not real life. no one (except perhaps some horribly misinformed housefrau somewhere) is going to wear these outfits exactly as they appear. the trick is, you find the piece or pieces you like, and you incorporate them into what you have and who you are. tricky? perhaps - but you can always hire me - it's what i do - and i find it beyond fun. it makes me giddy.
ok - note over... one last thing is the hair and makeup. i am usually not a fan of show hair/m.u. it's drama - so it's a bit like stage makeup. fine and dandy but not my fare.... this however is so up my row... i have had my hair in a side ponytail for a couple of months now, out of heat and laziness - and when i saw this side braid - it's like worlds collided. lazy, bohemian, chic, fashion. i sigh deeply and feel happy.
